Wireless car-jacking is real and the evidence was presented this week from the streets of St. Louis, demonstrated in all its harrowing glory by internet security researchers Charlie Miller and Chris Valasek, to Wired magazine. If you haven’t yet seen the video doing the rounds of a Jeep Cherokee being controlled by two guys and two laptops as a helpless and terrified journalist sits behind the wheel at 70mph, then brace yourself. The start of the ‘experiment’ was quite humorous as Miller and Valasek’s crash-test dummy was blasted with cold air and loud music – with the manual controls rendered useless. The laughing soon stopped, however, as the hackers completely killed the Jeep by cutting its engine as it traveled…
