Comcast has been targeted by a US family in a class action law suit, which aims to prevent Comcast using home gateway devices to offer WiFi using a second SSID. They want it to switch off all the Homespots. The suit is clearly opportunistic and ill-informed, but that doesn’t mean it can be simply dismissed. A Californian resident and his daughter have both filed suit, claiming that the DOCSIS routers will use more of their home’s electricity if it is used for both providing broadband power to residents and also to passersby.
