Once again, an array of publications reporting pay TV figures in the US for the previous quarter have failed to observe the wider picture. Some claim that Comcast had its biggest quarterly increase in nine years, and some have reported relatively small pay TV subscriber losses of around 200,000 for the quarter – but Faultline makes the number of fatalities to be around 700,000. Starting with Dish, we estimate that Sling TV now has close to 750,000 subscribers, and Dish reported a pay TV loss of 23,000 customers in Q1 2016.
