Enterprise WiFi services, managed from the cloud, are an increasingly important way for companies to go wireless, and the market has been a factor in several acquisitions, from Cisco’s of Meraki to Brocade’s of Ruckus (not forgetting that Ruckus also works with Google on its managed enterprise homespot scheme). Now XCellAir, the network-as-a-service start-up spun out from InterDigital, is joining forces with gateway provider Benu Networks to target this space with its own twist. They will integrate the former’s XCellRAN carrier WiFi cloud-based platform with Benu’s Virtual Service Edge (VSE).
