The month of April saw a slew of green hydrogen, ammonia, methanol, and even trucking and storage projects announced in China. Individually, none merit an article in their own right, but together they’re a reminder that China will be the first market to scale green hydrogen – the first address its marginal cost of production problem, while also having solid infrastructure development to deliver it. In no particular order, April saw the following announcements in the Chinese green hydrogen industry: Sinopec announced China’s first trans-regional hydrogen heavy truck trunk line had been officially opened on April 14th, leading from the far-inland Chongqing south along a 1,150-kilometer route to Qinzhou Port in Guangxi, a distance which requires four hydrogen refueling stations. …
