According to statistics from the China Battery Network, $8 billion has been invested into new battery manufacturing facilities in the country in the first 50 days of 2025 alone (through February 20) – across 17 projects, counting only the 13 projects which announced their investment figures. Chinese manufacturing capacity for green equipment is old news, or should be – but the country’s giants are continuing to invest in ever more production capacity even now in early 2025. At least the scale of overcapacity is not twofold as it is in solar manufacturing, and BESS (battery energy storage systems) demand is going to keep surging through the remainder of this decade – but even then the Chinese build-out can be considered…
