MWC used to be a show that housed the major OEM smartphone announcements. That era is over, but it is still full of startups that are trying to show off their latest hardware innovations. The vast majority of those startups, unfortunately, go bust, and the big name vendors are reluctant to show off their own inventions in these public and uncontrolled environments. Nonetheless, MWC is still a great opportunity to get hands on with new devices, usually in the brief gaps between meetings. Put simply, foldable smartphone hardware is impressive, and has settled durability concerns. However, they remain much too expensive for mass adoption.
