The GSA (Global mobile Suppliers Association) representing vendors has decided the time is right for collective action to promote the 5G RedCap IoT standards, now that there are two on the table covering all the bases. It has launched the RedCap Special Interest Group (SIG), charged with developing a collective voice to boost development and adoption of 5G RedCap, rather than the current fragmented effort involving some individual vendors. Founding members include Ericsson, Huawei, Qualcomm and MediaTek, so there is a global flavor to the group, circumventing geopolitical divisions.
