Octopus Energy and its small business customers have sent a letter urging the UK Treasury to reform electricity pricing across the country. Their message is clear: the current single national electricity pricing is costing them – please take a new approach, namely zonal pricing. More than 3,700 small businesses, all clients of Octopus, have backed the energy provider’s effort to introduce “zonal pricing.” This mechanism would enable electricity rates to vary depending on geographic location and the overall balance of supply and demand throughout the nation.
