Power efficiency improvements have been an easy win for the sustainability claims of operators – allowing them to replace old systems with new machines, and then run more compute jobs on the same power budget. The validity of these environmental improvements needs to be properly benchmarked, and there are no current initiatives that we feel are capable of doing so.
