This is the story of how a telecoms engineer from Hull in the UK became the supposed owner of Nigeria’s third largest mobile operator for a brief period. Very little media scrutiny went into the reporting of the recent buyout of Nigeria’s 9Mobile. Local and international news sources reported that the struggling operator had been acquired by UK firm LH Telecommunication Limited. The only UK firm registered under that name is a one-man band consultancy run by an engineer from Hull.
