Jiangnan Shipyard, a China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, has begun construction of the first of six 93,000-cubic-meter Very Large Liquid Ammonia Carriers (VLACs) for Eastern Pacific Shipping. This type of ship would be very useful to support the collection and transportation of green ammonia produced at far offshore wind power projects. The hydrogen industry is set to receive major investments, with the Alxa Wind and Solar Hydrogen Production Project in China to feature 4.03 GW of wind and solar capacity, 1.5 billion Nm3/hr green hydrogen electrolysis capacity, 300,000 tons/year of green methane production capacity, 600,000 tons/year green ammonia production capacity, and facilities to use these green fuels in traditional industries.
